Rory Shortell

I am a pitcher originally drafted in the third round by the Astros in 2002. I was with them until 2008, and have been playing independent ball since.

I am usually a starting pitcher, but have no problem throwing relief. The past few seasons I have actually made a majority of my starts on three days rest, and have also made relief appearances in between starts. My numbers the past two years arent great, but I feel arent indicitive of my value to a team.
In 2009 I was actually the starter of the all star game even though I only had a 1-1 record at the time, despite 11 quality starts. I was on the worst team in professional baseball, and actually was second in the league in ERA at the time. The second half of that season had turmoil i'm sure few teams have ever matched.
We out manager as well as a good portion of our players to save money, and it resulted in everyones stats suffering collectively. That season I still was 2nd in the league in innings, and third in strikeouts.

2010 I was finishing my degree and didnt have a spring training, I was definitely behind physically when the season started, and it resulted in a very up and down year. I still managed to post a lot of innings because of my ability to pitch deep into most games I start.
