Allow me to introduce myself, my name is David Washington and I have recently been released by the El Paso Diablos of the American Association. I am 23 years old and a second year rookie from Savannah State University where I batted .330 and had 28 stolen bases, ranked top 15 in the country in steals, during my senior season. Last season I played in El Paso under Butch Henry and had 14 stolen bases and 28 runs in a limited playing role. This past winter I was the starting centerfielder for the South Australian national team, where I led the league in steals and was in the top 5 for walks and runs. I was asked to return this season as the starting centerfielder for the Diablos and in 10 starts I recorded 3 doubles, 1 triple, 5 rbi's, 3 walks, 3 runs and 4 steals.
My primary position is outfield but I am also a utility infielder as well as catcher. Some of my attributes are that I throw and hit from the right side and run the 60 in 6.4 seconds, throw 92 mph from the outfield, throw 88 mph off the mound and 1.8 seconds from home to second base. My next team will appreciate my youth and determination and I am positive that any organization can benefit from what I will bring to the field each day. As mentioned in my profile, my 28 steals ranked me in the top 10 in division 1 baseball at the time I signed my professional contract with the El Paso Diablos in April, 2009. I returned to El Paso this season, but before my release I had 8 hits, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 5 rbi's, 4 walks, 3 runs, 4 steals and 2 outfield assists. I was a HUGE fan favorite while playing in Australia.
