Kevin Reed
I am looking to play (and coach if necessary) at a competitive level in Europe. I have both coaching and playing experience at various levels.
I pitched for four years in college, two years at Lincoln Land Community College (IL)--the 2000 NJCAA DII National Champion. I received multiple awards in college. I throw in the high 80s with a lot of movement. I throw a sinker, cutter, curve, and change. I am 6'2 and right-handed.
After school, I worked out with a few professional and independent teams, but failed to catch on permanently. I have continued to play in the summers with an elite senior team (we still beat up on college teams!)
I would be more than happy to provide references.
Some awards I have received:
Athletic Scholarship to Lincoln Land Community College
Academic All-Conference, Collegiate Conference of Central Illinois
Academic All-Conference in Baseball, Midwest Conference
All-Conference in Baseball, Midwest Conference
Baseball Team Captain, Illinois College
Multiple Baseball Team Records, Illinois College -- some are single season, some are career records after only 2 years
My statistics from college are through this link: www.ic.edu/athletics/teams/Mens/Baseball/stats.asp. I played in 2003 and 2004. My school records for season and career are also on the site. .
Here are some summer statistics. Again, I've played for a very good senior team that was made of former professionals and good college players. We travel around the state and area. A few years ago, we combined with a local college team.
| 2004: | 7-2, 1.83 ERA, 2 saves, 64 innings, 67 strikeouts |
| 2005: | 6-1, 0.90 ERA, 50 innings, 59 strikeouts, 5 earned runs |
| 2006: | 2-1, 1.42 ERA, 19 innings, 23 strikeouts, 3 earned runs |
| 2007 and 2008 | I can't find my statistics. Troy Vilayhong may have them or be able to tell you how I did. I've spent the last few years coaching more, but still definitely pitch and stay in great shape. I throw harder now than I ever have. That may be due to being older, stronger, and better rested. |
I coached at Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois for three seasons. I was in charge of the freshman team and was a junior varsity and varsity assistant. I am also familiar with giving individual lessons and working in camps. This past summer, I was a baseball instructor at a residential camp in New York.
