Joel Royce Holder (coach)

Royce Holder I'm looking for a team to coach in the Netherlands. I have been involved in baseball since 1963 in some way. I played high school baseball in Fort Worth, Texas. I was an All-City shortstop at Western Hills High School for 2 years, with 3 school records. San Diego wanted to draft me out of high school, but I decided to attend Texas Wesleyan University (Fort Worth) were we were ranked 3rd nationally in NAIA., but I tore my shoulder up . Went to S.D. Padres tryout camp but my shoulder was still hurt and could not compete.
During the next 12 years, I made most of my money playing for softball teams around the country. I’ve played on 4 state Championship teams. I played on a team in 1988 that was runner up National Champion. Then I played for a few years for Mizuno sports team out of Texas and then in Cleveland, Ohio for a Steele’s Sports sponsored team. During this time I was on Major Player List for 12 years for USSSA.

I played and coached in the Dallas/Fort Worth baseball league, 18 and over division, where my teams won the championship every year from 1994-1999 and 3 state championships. In 2003 I was a player on a runner-up National Championship team in the NABA. In 2005, I was the hitting coach for the Coastal Bend Aviators of the Central Baseball League. The year at Coastal Bend I threw 70-80% of BP for the team, worked with infielders and coached 3rd base for Murray Wilson, manager of the team. In 2006 I coached the Fort Worth Drillers a select baseball team 16 under, also helped coach an “Americas Baseball Camp” in Argyle, Texas. I’m a team player, and winning is everything. I hate to lose.

2007
Manager of Texas Heat in Continental Baseball League (Independent League) . The Heat was the travel team of the league , no home games all year. We finished 2nd in the league standings (25-17), tied in loss column but played 5 less games in win column to Tarrant County (30-17) who played all but 10 games at home. League was suppose to be 60 games but rain outs shortened season. Also Heat had to play single exhibition games during the season, a total of 8 games with 2 rainouts but still had to travel for all 1 night games. Example: We played a 5 game series in Lewisville (Thursday-Sunday), Monday in Texarkana, Tx, then Tuesday in Abilene, Tx, then back to Tarrant County Blue Thunder on Wednesday. Team does not stay overnight.
I was runner-up in Manager of year award . Did not have a GM until half way into training camp. Had a player/coach as pitching coach all year.

2008:
3rd base and infield coach for Grand Prairie Airhogs in the American Association Baseball League. Head coach is Pete Incaviglia. Resigned June 13th for personal reasons.
